He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven

Had I the heavens ’ embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams - William Butler Yeats

Poor Old Lady

Poor old lady, she swallowed a fly. I don ’ t know why she swallowed a fly. Poor old lady, I think she ’ ll die. Poor old lady, she swallowed a spider. It squirmed and wriggled and turned inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly. I don ’ t know why she swallowed a fly. Poor old lady, I think she ’ ll die. Poor old lady, she swallowed a bird. How absurd! She swallowed a bird. She swallowed the bird to catch the spider, She swallowed the spider to catch the fly, I don ’ t know why she swallowed a fly. Poor old lady, I think she ’ ll die. Poor old lady, she swallowed a cat. Think of that! She swallowed a cat. She swallowed the cat to catch the bird. She swallowed the bird to cat

Hope is the Thing with Feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all. And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I ’ ve heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
